A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Napa County, California, has claimed the lives of three women, leaving families and communities in mourning and raising concerns about impaired driving.
The victims have been identified as Vivian Bertolino, 65, and Linda Wolters, 62, both of American Canyon, and Katrina Clarke, 65, of Sacramento. Their lives were cut short following a devastating collision on March 28 along Silverado Trail.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a Mitsubishi sedan traveling southbound sideswiped a BMW SUV heading northbound. The Mitsubishi then lost control and collided head-on with a Toyota traveling behind the BMW.
Two passengers in the Mitsubishi and one passenger in the Toyota were pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Three additional occupants in the Toyota suffered major, life-threatening injuries and were transported for emergency medical care.
Authorities have arrested the driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 68-year-old William Dean Brumley, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
